Police arrest three on
charges of theft

Purdue University police arrested three men Thursday
morning in connection with the theft of lobby furniture from the Purdue
Airport.
The suspects are brothers Matthew D. McCarty, 21,
and Michael P. McCarty, 20, from West Lafayette. And Kevin J. Lowry,
20, of Francisville, Ind. The three suspects were arrested on charges
of theft a Class D felony. Each was released on $500 cash bond.
Capt. Ron Fosnaugh of the Purdue Police Department
said the three suspects were seen at approximately 3:30 a.m. loading
furniture into the back of a truck at the airport terminal. The police
was called to the scene and arrested Matthew McCarty walking away from
the truck heading toward Purdue Village. Lowry and McCarty were arrested
after further investigation.
According to Fosnaugh, the furniture was valued
at $1,200. The furniture, which consisted of two sets of chairs bolted
to frames, were found next to the truck and at the McCarty's residence.
Michael McCarty is a sophomore in the School of
Liberal Arts.
