The body recovered by authorities in a Purdue pond on Thursday evening was identified as a student missing for nearly a week.

According to a press release from county coroner Martin Avolt, the body has been identified as that of Jeremy P. Francis, 22, from Flora, Ind. It was spotted, by authorities using a helicopter, floating in five feet of water on a pond located northwest of the Walter Wade Utility Plant and southeast of Lynn Hall of Veterinary Medicine. On that side of the water there is nearly a 40-foot steep dropoff from ground level.

Francis had been missing since the early morning hours of July 13.
