Purdue professor dies, cause remains unknown

From Staff Reports

The department of computer technology is mourning the loss of one of its faculty members.

Charles Thurwachter, assistant professor of computer technology, was found dead Monday.

A cause of death has not been determined.

Jeffrey Whitten, head of the department of computer technology, said everyone in the department is in shock.

"He was a really nice guy, very outgoing, fun to be around."

He said Thurwachter was an avid scuba diver and had just returned from a scuba diving trip to Australia.

Thurwachter was looking forward to the upcoming semester, because he had some new ideas on working with wireless communications.

• Viewings will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Birmingham, Mich. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Instead of memorials the family asks that contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
