Today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Northwestern Avenue adjacent to Mackey Arena, Purdue and racing fans will have an opportunity to view a race car with the University's name on it.
Additionally, driver Elton Sawyer will be there from noon to 2 p.m. and will sign autographs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Purdue Pride will have a tent set up selling Purdue and the Purdue No. 98 car merchandise at the event. Also one pair pit passes and two pairs of tickets will be given away during the event.
Sawyer will drive the Starter/University of Purdue Showcar for Atkins Motor Sports during the Kroger 200 on Saturday at the Indianapolis Raceway Park. The race is part of NASCARs Busch Grand National Series and will be broadcast live nationally on TNT.
Sawyer currently ranks sixth in the Busch Series standings. He has 11 top10 finishes this season, including each of his last six starts. He is racing this weekend at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado before next weeks Kroger 200 in Indianapolis.
