Students should get involved with PSGOn behalf of Purdue Student Government, we would like to welcome you back to Purdue. We are very excited to serve you this year in what will be a very important year for your student government. I am excited to tell you how effective this governing body can be for you. This year, PSG will have an incredible opportunity to work with many student organizations. We will be utilizing our financial resources to aid programs and events other groups may not be able to put on by themselves. We will collaborate with student groups and administrative initiatives such as the "Choices make Champions" campaign. We will be offering many alternative events such as "All Night at the RSC" on Sept. 7, and Choices Tailgates at a number of home football games. We invite you to become a part of PSG by coming to our callout on at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 in the Liberal Arts and Education Building, Room 2290. There you will learn the different ways that PSG serves the student body and how you can join the different branches of the organization. Student Senate is comprised of representatives from each of the 11 academic schools. These representatives report to the respective student councils, to Deans, and eventually to University Senate Committees. This year, we are making history at Purdue University. In October, PSG will hold campus-wide elections for all representatives to serve on student senate. I encourage you to run and represent your academic school on important issues pertaining to academics and student life at Purdue We will make sure that PSG earns the credibility it deserves by delivering on our promises. We want each student to hold us accountable for our actions by getting involved with the organization. It is imperative that students understand that this does not necessarily entail holding a position. If Purdue Student Government is not for you, we are working to offer you a direct way to voice any concerns you have. Speak with your senators representing your academic school, or speak to an executive member with your concerns. Regardless of the situation, let your voice be heard by this organization. Interested students can get involved in many ways. Join us outside the Union on Aug. 24, at the PSUB Activity Fair. We will have information on how to get involved as well as the opportunities members can pursue. Feel free to stop by our office in Stewart Center, Room G6 and ask for assistance. We look forward to serving you this year. Please do not hesitate to contact us, and remember that this year you can EXPECT RESULTS! Brenda Shea President Matthew Newton Vice President |
