Former Boiler MVP qualifies
for U.S. Open

Former Purdue womens tennis player Jennifer
Embry has qualified for the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Embry
and doubles partner Abigail Spears will begin play in the main draw
later this week.
Embry and Spears defeated Galina Fokina and Evgenia
Koulikovskaya of Russia 6-2, 6-2 in their second and deciding qualifying
match on Aug. 25.
This is the second Grand Slam tournament Embry
has qualified for this summer. She also qualified and played in Wimbledon
during July.
A native of Houston, Texas, Embry graduated from
Purdue in 2000. She was a three-time All-Big Ten selection and two-time
team Most Valuable Player. She played in three NCAA doubles championships.
