With the close of August's DUI Task Force, results
from the effort have been released.
The Lafayette police, West Lafayette police, Tippecanoe
County Sheriff's department and Purdue police all worked together from
Aug. 16 through Aug. 24 to increase enforcement on the streets, targeting
impaired drivers.
"The task force worked 79 hours and arrested 13
impaired drivers, including three for felony drunk driving," said Lt.
Jeanette Bennett of the Lafayette police in a news release. "The average
blood alcohol for the 13 drivers was .15."
Fifty-five impaired drivers were arrested in Tippecanoe
County during this time.
In addition to these arrests, the task force issued
60 citations and 100 warnings to drivers.
