RIDGE VERONA, Wis. The Purdue mens
golf team finished third in the Badger Invitational playing in soggy
conditions over the weekend.
Rain fell for most of the round on Sunday at the
15-team event, which was won by Toledo and hosted by Wisconsin.
The Boilermakers, who were in fourth place after
two rounds, carded a final round 291 to move into the top three with
a total of 865. Toledo won the event with a total score of 853, followed
by Arkansas-Little Rock with an 858. Only two teams finished below par.
Purdue placed first among the seven Big Ten schools who were in the
invitational, edging out Michigan by two strokes for third place.
Senior Lee Williamson, who was in third place after
the first two rounds, fired a 70 yesterday and finished eight strokes
under par. He placed second overall with a 208 total. Williamsons
second round 67 tied for the lowest individual round of the tournament.
Junior Peter Karmis tied for 20th place for the
Boilermakers, while junior Chris Mayson finished tied for 29th after
a final-round 73.
Freshman Dustin Cone, playing in his first collegiate

Jason Bukowski fired a 224 and tied for 45th overall.
For the second straight season, the Boilermakers
began the fall schedule with a third-place finish. Purdue placed third
