Candlelight vigil to
honor victims
Purdue Student Government is sponsoring a candlelight
vigil at 8 p.m. tonight at Slayter Hill to remember those lost in Tuesday's
terrorist attacks.
Jessica Cavallo, PSG executive director of external
affairs, said, "We needed something so the Purdue community could get
together and maybe console each other; sort out why this thing could've
happened.
"We're hoping to get members of the community out
here as well," she said. "The entire community is welcome to this."
Grant Lohse, president of the Interfraternity Council,
will begin the ceremony by speaking about a student reaction to the
events. Brenda Shea, student body president, will then introduce Purdue
president Martin Jischke who will preside over the ceremony.
She said the organization is hoping to have about
15,000 people at the event.
The organization will provide candles, but is asking
for people and local businesses to donate candles and anything they
can think of.
Further plans for the vigil will be made today.
