Americans need to unite in time of need

We as Americans need to realize that the terrorist attack that took place on Tuesday was the result of several completely ignorant, mindless and insane individuals. Many government officials have reason to believe that several, if not all, of the hijackers aboard the four planes were of Arab decent. This may be true; however, we as united Americans must realize that not every person that is Arab living in the United States is guilty or related to this unthinkable crime. I have heard that Purdue students have been harassing Arab students since the terrorist attacks took place. These ignorant actions by students are going to keep this country from ever being truly united. I, personally, would expect more civilized actions from college students.

I have also heard of two incidents that again made me upset. I heard of one Arab individual driving around in his car after the attacks took place honking his car horn and waving his hand out the window at everyone passing by. I also heard of another Arab student wearing a T-shirt that said, "This is only the beginning." I pray that these stories are just rumors because these are two more reasons why the United States will never be united.

We, as students and citizens, should concentrate on keeping the victims and the families of the victims in our hearts and prayers instead of pointing fingers. Let us leave it up to the United States government and other allied governments to find out who is responsible for this horrible act. The ignorant acts of a few students will only hurt the situation.

United we stand, divided we fall.
