Past makes nation target for terror

I know now is a bad time to say this, because people are upset and irrational, but it must be said.

We have terrorized other countries. We have propped up dictators and tyrants that have ruined countless lives. Our interaction on the world stage has always been in the name of economic self-interest (which is fine, as long as it is not an attack on others, which is often the case).

If we were not trying to police the world, we would not be making ourselves a target to so many terrorists.

What the terrorists did is terrible and they should be tried and sentenced.

Here is one last thing to think about. The holy war between Israel and Palestine has been waged for thousands of years. Terrorism is a common weapon between the two. Had we never stepped in and taken one side over another, this attack would never have been targeted at us.

George Washington in his farewell address (1796) warns us to avoid entangling alliances. Now we see the rotten fruits of these alliances.

And this is only the beginning! Damn our aggressive, bullying, coercive government! They endanger us all!
