America will rebound after tragedy

Wednesday was a day of sadness. It seemed as if no one wanted to go to class. All we wanted to do was stay at home and mourn. Now, we live in a country that will never be the same. The attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon is an American tragedy. But as we look back on American history, America rebounded after Pearl Harbor. America rebounded after the Kennedy assassination. America rebounded after Vietnam. America rebounded after Oklahoma City and America will rebound after Tuesday. After each tragedy, America came back stronger and with a newer sense of hope. Even though it does not really compare, it is similar to when Heavilon Hall exploded on Jan. 19, 1894. President James Smart rallied the students by saying the tower will go "one brick higher." America will go on, and we will go one brick higher. We had two towers come down, but one will forever stay up. The American spirit is a tower that can not be damaged by a plane.
