Celebration in America seems ironicIn my 7:30 a.m. lecture this morning we were talking about the group of people at the University of Valparaiso that were celebrating Tuesday's tragedy. Then a girl brought up how her boyfriend attends Indiana University and someone in his lecture was wearing a shirt with a big Osama bin Laden head on it. Not to mention the girl walking around on our campus yesterday with clothes that said, "It starts today" marked on them. I'm confused as to why these people are here if they don't like America. Why would you strive to be educated by a nation you hate? I also find it ironically humorous that the people celebrating here in America are only allowed to do so and are protected by the laws of America. You support the freedom and free speech of America, but then hate it? If America is such a horrible country, then why are you not dead for protesting against it? I doubt that I would last 10 minutes in your country wearing a shirt that says, "America Rules." But that's right, America is the bad guy. Chris Andrus Senior, School of Technology |
Americans need to unite in time of need Past makes nation target for terror Games should continue despite attack America will rebound after tragedy Nation must pray for peace, calm Country must continue normal lives Celebration in America seems ironic Teachers should speak with caution Campus needs to display more flags American media shelters citizensAmericans must carry on, live livesCancellations should follow tragedy
