Freshman engineers should stay with majorThis is in response to Mr. Robbins. Mr. Robbins, Brent, if I may, I believe that you should do us (engineers and Purdue students in general) a favor by dropping out of engineering, or maybe Purdue altogether. I am with 3 other Purdue agricultural engineering alumni here at my ENGINEERING job. All three of us read your lovely letter and were impressed by your numbers. Maybe statistics are your calling... Sorry, back to your problem. Maybe it is your sub par 1.5 GPA. It is also your fault if you are not going out and having fun too. We all had active social lives and still kept good grades. Okay, to all of the freshmen engineers, engineering is the right choice! Yes, it is tough sometimes, but in the end it will all pay off. We travel the United States and see new faces and places, and we have great job security. So, keep at it, not all jobs are computer number crunching. Many jobs I've been around deal with people, machines and new interesting situations every day. There is a job out there for all of you. Matt Peter Purdue Alumni |
