Boilers find victory at tennis tournament

The Purdue women’s tennis players came away with more victories and overall finishes on Saturday at the St. Mary’s Health Systems Classic in Knoxville, Tenn.

In doubles, Gretchen Haynor and Missy Wright received fifth place. The team of Lara Bugarello and Shawna Zuccarini finished sixth. Senior Lynsey Fick and freshman Amy Walgenbach finished seventh.

Four Purdue players came away with victories in the first day of action on Friday.

Junior Melissa Iqbal and freshman Amy Walgenbach picked up victories in Flight Three.

Senior captain Lynsey Fick won in Flight Five. Fick won the first set and then rallied for a three set victory.

Junior teammate Missy Wright also won in three sets.

Results for Sunday's matches were not available.
