Police, firemen deserve praise for serving others

This letter is to say "thank you" to members of the Police and Fire Departments.

I was walking by the Purdue Fire building and saw a little memorial that had been put up in honor and remembrance of the firemen who lost their lives in rescuing people in the twin towers. As I walked past and saw the 'eternal' flame I was deeply moved and it was reinforced yet again that the service in New York has affected the people here.

I was working at Hawkins and a member of the Purdue Police was in the lobby. I only had but a minute to talk to him until he was called over to campus. I'm grateful to him for spending the time to talk to me as a friend.

Thank you. Thank you also to all of you who give your life to serving others. You are to be commended and very much appreciated. Most sincerely,

Carol Saunders
