Police, firemen deserve praise for serving othersThis letter is to say "thank you" to members of the Police and Fire Departments. I was walking by the Purdue Fire building and saw a little memorial that had been put up in honor and remembrance of the firemen who lost their lives in rescuing people in the twin towers. As I walked past and saw the 'eternal' flame I was deeply moved and it was reinforced yet again that the service in New York has affected the people here. I was working at Hawkins and a member of the Purdue Police was in the lobby. I only had but a minute to talk to him until he was called over to campus. I'm grateful to him for spending the time to talk to me as a friend. Thank you. Thank you also to all of you who give your life to serving others. You are to be commended and very much appreciated. Most sincerely, Carol Saunders Senior, School of Technology |
