Purdue freshman ties school record for season points

With both goals in Purdue's 2-0 victory over Michigan State on Friday, Purdue freshman Lauren Sesselmann tied the school record for individual single-season points with 18.

"Tying that record feels great," said Sesselmann, who has seven goals and four assists this season. "Coming in to Purdue, I just wanted to make an impact, and getting that record today really boosts my confidence that I can do that both this year and in the future."

Purdue coach Rob Klatte said that even though his team won, the Boilers didn’t play well.

"We took our chances early, which got us up, but we have to continue to finish other chances in the first half and on into the second half," said Klatte.

Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Boldt made her seventh start of the year and combined in the shutout with junior Jocelyn Cavalier.

The Boilermakers out-shot the Spartans 12-6.

"Overall, we were very well organized, defensively, and we didn't give up many chances to Michigan State," said Klatte.

Results from Sunday's game at Michigan were not available as of Sunday evening.
