Men's cross-country finishes in second at Michigan Invitational

The Purdue's men cross country team posted a second-place finish in one of its best races of the season at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., Sunday. The women's team took third place against some of the nation's top teams.

In rainy and muddy conditions, the men's team scored 53 points, second only to the hosts, who are ranked 12th in the nation.

Geoff Fleming paced the Boilermaker men's team with a sixth-place finish in the 8,000-meter race in a time of 26:11. Toby Buechner was Purdue's other top-10 finisher with a time of 26:26, good for ninth overall. David Rae (11th), Kyle Orender (12th) and Mike Ciccarelli (15th) gave Purdue five finishers among the top 15.

The women finished third for Purdue with 65 points in the 5,000-meter race behind two top-15 squads, No. 8 North Carolina and No. 14 Wisconsin.

Lindsay Zinn was the Boilermakers' high finisher, placing fourth with a time of 18:33. Teresa Kamleiter finished 12th with a time of 19:11, and Kim Snyder placed 14th in 19:16.
