From Staff Reports

The Indiana State Police will conduct anthrax awareness training today and Friday in Indianapolis for state agency leaders and agency mailroom workers to ensure they are on alert against the spread of anthrax.

The state police will work in conjunction with the Indiana Counter-Terrorism and Security Council to train the agency workers. Today's session is for the aforementioned workers. Friday's session is for other state workers appointed by agency leaders. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. today and at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Anthrax is an acute infectious disease that usually occurs in farm animals in tropical regions. It can be inhaled, eaten or absorbed through cuts or abrasions.
