Band pays respect to American flagI write today in response to Mr. Richard Hayward's letter concerning the American flag used in the marching band's pregame. I have been reading this gentleman's letters for the three years that he has written them, and each time I read them with dismay and frustration. Each time I read a new letter by the gentleman, I can only think about how much he has missed the point. He talks of respect to our flag. How about respect to our nation? How about the salute that the ALL-AMERICAN Marching Band presents to our country EVERY home game, and not just in light of a national tragedy? He seems to be so blinded by the protocols made for a standard-sized flag that he misses the respect this much larger flag generates for our country. Mr. Hayward, trust me, the flag is well taken care of and was made for the situations it is used. And until you are one of those citizens proudly displaying this flag each home game, I think you should withhold your criticism of those who work so hard to honor our country.
