'Gator Chomp' makes student feel at homeWhen I first came here to Indiana, I was wary of what I would miss being away from all the great things in my home state of Florida, all the sun, warm weather, the beaches, no income taxes and best of all, great college football. I was ecstatic when I saw Drew Brees and the Boilers win the Big Ten Championship last year and go to the Rose Bowl, but I was even more thrilled when Purdue started paying homage to a true football team, the University of Florida Gators. The sight of the "Gator Chomp" brought tears to my eyes as it brought memories of home, but it filled me with great pride to know that other universities in the nation know and celebrate the traditions of a true and great football program. Even Indiana's own native, Rex Grossman, knows which team is the best in the NCAA, as he leads us to another National Championship. As Purdue continues to honor the obvious superior team at its home games, I would, again, like that thank everyone for making me feel right at home here in the Midwest. You will all be in my mind when I go to the Rose Bowl on January 3, 2002 cheering on the Florida Gators for the National Championship, not a Big Ten team. GO GATORS!!!
