Accomplished speaker, attendance make organization's show successfulAt 6 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2001, in the South Ballroom of the Union, Delta Phi Mu Sorority hosted the second annual Hispanic Heritage Show. I would like to personally extend thanks to all show participants, those who traveled from out of town and all organizations and individuals who supported us that evening. I would particularly like to thank those ladies whose hard work and dedication made this show a reality. The show was a tremendous success and I have never been prouder to be a distinguished lady of Delta Phi Mu. Despite the phenomenal turnout, it is unfortunate that this event received no publicity from the Purdue Exponent. The month of October is nationally celebrated as Hispanic Heritage Month. Not only that, but the keynote speaker was Dr. Juan Andrade Jr., founder and chief executive officer of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute and recipient of the Presidential Citizens Medal from former Pres. Bill Clinton. It was a great honor to be able to host such an accomplished professional at our University and I hope in the future that events and speakers of this scale will receive the attention they deserve.
