Exponent staff places style over substanceWell, you have finally convinced me that your editors value tawdry, sensational, irrelevant poppycock rather than intellectually stimulating material. Why else would you put a full-color picture of a drag queen on the front page of today's (10-22-01) publication? What kind of journalism is this? I do not understand why you wouldn't have had a much bigger picture of the Walk/run event that began Red Ribbon Week. This was a noteworthy event commemorating the life of Jay Severson for his courageous deeds. Giving them front-page coverage was the right thing to do, but having them share the limelight with a drag queen was poor judgment, indeed. What were you thinking? Susan C. Brust Purdue Staff |
