Trustees take Purdue to 'next level'
By Laura Pelner Purdue has a challenge to face in the next five years, a challenge the University has created for itself and one President Martin Jischke is welcoming. On Friday the challenge to make Purdue a preeminent university and take it to the next level was formally established when the board of trustees officially approved the strategic plan, which lays out vision and mission statements and goals for Purdue for the next five years.
Attorney awaits physical evidence reportIt could still be several weeks before Tippecanoe County prosecutor Jerry Bean decides whether Zhan Yin could face the death penalty. Yin, 27, a graduate student in biology, is charged with the Aug. 2 murder of Yeunkyung Woo, 31, a doctoral student in biology, and her sister, Hyo Kyung Woo, 29, of Chicago. The women were found stabbed and beaten in Yeunkyung's Purdue Village apartment. Yin has 12 counts filed against him two of murder, two of murder while attempting to commit burglary or robbery, two of robbery, two of confinement, two of theft and single ones of both burglary and attempted arson.
'War of the Worlds' plans to invade Loeb Playhouse
A small sound stage is cluttered with chairs, microphones and sound effect equipment. One man runs from prop to prop like a madman, creating an invasion that will take over the nation. In 1938, Orson Welles broadcast his radio version of "War of the Worlds." On Nov. 6, the SITI Company brings its version, based on the original script, to Loeb Playhouse. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets cost $14 for students, $18 for the general public. |
