No serious injuries result
from crash at hair salon
From Staff Reports
No one was seriously injured when a car crashed
through a local storefront Friday afternoon.
Police at the scene said Marilyn Branigin, 72,
of West Lafayette probably pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake
as she parked in front of Emporium Hairstyling & Tanning Center,
which is located in a strip mall at Northwestern Avenue and Evergreen
Street. Most of Branigin's car was inside the building after crashing
through the glass and brick storefront at around 2:15 p.m. Friday.
Emporium's owner Nikki Plummer said Branigin had
an appointment at the salon.
Plummer said she was working at the back of her
business when she heard what she thought was an explosion. One Emporium
employee suffered only a minor bruise on her leg after she was pinned
behind the reception desk.
West Lafayette police estimated $35,000 in damage
to the building.
