Opinions

Campus Loop riders should respect others

Winter and the fickle season we Hoosiers like to call "autumn" are here once more. This means sledding on Slayter Hill, snowball fights, etc. However, there are some unfortunate side effects of cold weather, such as ridiculous energy bills, excavating cars out of snow drifts called drive ways, snow in your shoes and such. One event that is as inevitable as changing seasons is the increased use of the Campus Loops. It's obvious nobody wants to do any walking with 35 mph winds whipping the elements into our faces. Albeit, this is a minor point in the whole scheme of seasonal rituals, but I think it should be addressed; after all, it's the little things that make up life. So here goes:

While riding the loops, be considerate. I can understand if a bus is packed to the top with people, but eventually, people do get off. When this happens, those already on and standing, find ANY seat, and sit; I saw way too many times last year, a bus driver would turn people away because they could not see available seats in the back and there was a crowd of people standing in the front of the bus, blocking anyone getting on or off. Please don't continue to block the aisle just because, maybe, you want a row to yourself. If there is room, move, please. To those sitting, if there is an empty window seat next to you, scoot over and move your stuff so someone else may have the luxury of resting too.

That's all I have to say. This has been a recurring problem for the last two years I've been here, and I don't expect it to change much. But call me a hopeless optimistic, I hope that someone will read this, and contribute to the solution.
