It was Noon time at Mackey Arena when the Boilermakers won 96-66 over RTU Klondaika, an all-star team from Latvia.
Senior center Mary Jo Noon made her presence known with 26 points and seven rebounds in Sundays exhibition game.
"We had the advantage on the inside," Noon said. "I cant take credit for it. I give my teammates all the credit."
Noon made 11 of 14 shots from the field mostly lay ups and 4 of 6 from the free throw line.
"I hope that it will be this easy all season," Noon said.
Sophomore forward Shereka Wright, who contributed 15 points, said she was glad to have Noon back in action.
"She is going to be a big part to our team," Wright said.
With the teams promising season ahead, Noon said she is looking forward to making another run at a national championship.
Coach Kristy Curry was pleased with Noons performance.
"Mary Jo has great strengths," Curry said. "She does a nice job finishing inside."
At 6 feet, 6 inches, Zane Teilane, RTUs starting center, could not keep up with the 6-foot-4 Noon in the paint.
"Not very many players can match up with her," Wright said.
Senior forward Laura Meadows said that Noon takes up a lot of space in the paint.
"She knows how to box out," Meadows said.
Curry said that the playing minutes would be there for Noon as long as she plays hard.
"Until you can stop her," Curry said, "I think that were going to be intelligent enough to keep her in."
