Volleyball extends Big Ten
losing streak

With two more Big Ten losses this weekend, the
Purdue volleyball team extended its losing streak in conference play
to 13 matches.
The Boilers lost to No. 11 Penn State and No. 10
Ohio State this weekend in the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility.
On Saturday, the Boilers (3-19, 1-13 Big Ten) had
only one error in 32 attempts and won the first game against Ohio State
30-26. But the Buckeyes (20-2, 12-2) won the next three games 30-21,
30-19 and 30-19.
Senior Maegan Petersen led the Boilermakers with
15 kills and 10 digs, while Ohio States Stacey Gordon had a match
high with 30 kills. Sophomore Joanna Lowry had nine kills and senior
Lori Knicker had 10 digs for the Boilers.
The Boilers lost to Penn State (17-5, 10-4) in
three games on Friday night, 24-30, 20-30, 23-30. Lowry had 13 kills
and nine digs. Petersen had 11 kills and Jen Bova had 10 digs in the
Boilermaker loss.
Purdue will host Indiana State on Tuesday in the
Intercollegiate Athletic Facility. The Boilermakers will honor local
firefighters, police officers, veterans and service men and women in
a special "Honoring our Heroes" halftime presentation.
