Students feel survey underrates programsBy Laura Pelner Graduate students at Purdue overwhelmingly feel their programs are being underrated by a survey conducted by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students. The survey, which was conducted solely online, assigned grades to various graduate and doctoral programs nationwide based on feedback from students in the programs. Ten of Purdue's programs were included in the survey ranging from biology to economics and physics to curriculum and instruction.
President Jischke to host alumni eventThis weekend some of Purdue's most distinguished benefactors will get a chance to do something they haven't done in quite a while attend classes. The weekend starts Friday morning with breakfast in the Union for the alumni members of the President's Council, and continues with classes, an awards dinner and discussions with President Martin Jischke. "It's a weekend where a lot of people come back to get together and see friends; it's also a great chance for the staff to meet some fabulous alumni," said Carolyn Gery, the executive director of the Presidents Council.
Speaker inspires studentsFreeman Hrabowski delivered an inspiring speech to minority students Wednesday night as part of the Historically Black Visitation program. "I thought his speech was very inspiring," said Charlene Cole, a senior in the School of Biology at Spelman College in Atlanta Georgia, who is visiting Purdue as part of the program. "He spoke truthfully about what it is like in the real world." |
