Student teaches true ChristianityThose who bomb abortion clinics are mistaken to think they are doing the right thing. "For all who take the sword will perish by the sword," said Christ. Christians are commanded to pray for and love sinners. They are not "better" than others (Romans 3:9), just forgiven. The Bible specifically warns against a "holier than thou" attitude. The Christian fundamentalist does not believe that those who believe differently are the cause of problems. The problem is sin and it is in everyone. Falwell and Robertson politicized the problem. Forgiveness for sin is obtained when one accepts the sacrifice of Christ for its atonement. Some people do not take religion seriously, as it is not a priority to them. Others choose a particular faith by conversion because, shockingly enough, they believe it is true and all others false. A view that all religions lead to God makes Christ to be a liar! He said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Salvation in Christianity isn't dependent on wealth. Christ taught, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:23). One chooses one's destiny because God has given free will to all of mankind. A true Christian would love the sinner just as Christ does but would also take a stand against sin. Christians are commanded to be the "salt and light" to the world. Now, fundamentalism shouldn't be viewed with a negative connotation. Fundamentalists take their faith and the word of God seriously. Only God judges the motives and actions of all. George Mathew Senior, Schools of Engineering |
