Wrestlers finish second
in Pennsylvania meet

The Purdue wrestling team followed up last weeks
first-place finish with a second-place finish at the Mat Town Invitational
in Lockhaven, Pa.
Sophomore Chris Fleeger earned the tournaments
outstanding wrestler award. The Trout Run, Pa., native captured the
125-pound title with a victory over Penn States Justin Kast. Fleeger
has won both of his first two collegiate meets this year.
"Chris Fleeger continued to wrestle very well for
us," said Coach Jessie Reyes. "He was dominant today and deserving of
the outstanding wrestler award."
Jake Vercelli placed first in the heavyweight class,
defeating Penn States Josh Walker for the title.
Oscar Santiago (165) and Ryan Lange (174) placed
second in their weight classes. Brad Harper placed third at 157 and
Dan Jankowski took fourth at 149.
Overall, the second-place Boilermakers compiled
151.5 points as Big Ten rival Penn State earned the team title with
a score of 161.5.
"Our guys wrestled very well today," said Reyes.
"I was pleased with our performance against some top competition."
Purdue returns to action on Dec. 8 at the Missouri
Valley meet at Columbia, Mo.
