The Lafayette Crisis Center will have its 6th annual
Fall Soup and Bread Concert 6:30 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Lafayette
Christian School, 525 N. 26th Street.
It's a time to "bring the community together with
the center at a time when everyone needs to be together, with some gourmet
soup and bread," said Maggie Morris, a member of the public relations
committee and the Board of Directors for the center.
Dinner, music and a silent auction are planned
for the evening. Local restaurants and vendors will donate soup, bread
and silent auction items.
A number of musical guests will also be present.
The Jefferson High School Varsity Singers will perform holiday music.
Local musicians Tevi Tarler and Henry French will perform acoustic music.
Alison Greene, a volunteer, trainer and member
of the Board of Directors for the center said the concert began as a
boost at the end of the year, involving music and getting people together
in order to keep the center running.
"The concert will be a really nice casual evening
with an affordable meal," Greene said. "Also, if you go, you will get
to learn a lot about the center, a valuable organization that serves
the Purdue campus as well as the whole county, and how you can get involved."
The center, which has been around for 30 years,
provides Tippecanoe County with continuous confidential crisis intervention.
Admission for the event is $5 for non-members of
the Center, and free for children 5 and under. If you would like to
become a member of the center, make a donation at the door or at the
Center. Tickets are available ahead of time at the center, or buy them
at the door. All proceeds benefit the center.
n To contact the Center, call the crisis line 24
hours a day at (765) 742-0244 or the teen crisis line (765) 423-1872.
