Climbing wall would help improve resumeAs a senior in high school, I began searching for potential colleges. Now, most people set their own requirements for their ideal college such as: how big of a school, what majors they have and the school's reputation; however, one of my requirements was that the school had a climbing wall. Climbing was a big part of my life and I wanted to continue to hone my skills on the wall. As I toured Purdue, I asked if they had a climbing wall that students could take advantage of. I was then led to a small racquetball room that held some wooden planks with a few rocks bolted on them. This was not a pretty sight. I was discouraged, but nonetheless, chose Purdue due to other factors. When I arrived at Purdue in the fall of last year, the wall was not in use anymore because of safety reasons. Now, in my sophomore year, the Outing Club is trying to bring a bigger, better and safer climbing wall to Purdue. I think that this is the best action the Outing Club has taken since I have attended Purdue. I feel that having a climbing wall at Purdue would greatly improve our recreational resume.
