Student government to discuss
buses, dining dollars
By Matt Lindner

Purdue Student Government will hold its first meeting
of the semester at 7 tonight in Krannert, Room G20.
Senators will be discussing various bills that
are on the floor concerning student activities. They will also discuss
a survey that the Student Affairs Committee placed on SSINFO concerning
residence hall food service and how dining dollars could be better used.
Brenda Shea, president of Purdue Student Government
and a senior in the School of Liberal Arts, said that among other reasons,
students should come to hear Purdue president Martin Jischke speak.
"President Jischke will be coming to speak on the
progress that Purdue is making with all of the donations that have been
received and all of the buildings that are going up," she said. "We
are also having a PSG office open house on Thursday from 12-3 p.m. that
students can learn more about at the meeting."
Matt Newton, a senior in the Schools of Engineering
and the vice president of Purdue Student Government, said that another
reason that students might want to come to tonight's meeting is because
they can learn more about the changes to the bus service that PSG is
trying to make.
"Brenda and I have had a lot of discussions about
the Saferide bus programs, such as expanding service to Thursday nights
and having the buses go as far down as the Levee," said Newton. "That
is only one of the many initiatives that directly affect students that
we will be discussing at the meeting."
