Complaints to paper about recent events become redundantIn the spirit of supporting battles won long-ago (i.e. vegetarian meals), the charter members of PSRP (Purdue Society of Redundancy at Purdue), would like to support America's efforts against the imperialistic British in the American Revolution. We have won "independence" and established a "nation," but can this country be the heralded "Land of the Free" when people voluntarily pay for meal-plans and don't get caviar and KFC? We blame England. Seriously, you "cow-huggers" can complain all you want, but please continue your crusade elsewhere. The opinions section is for fresh new issues, not irresolvable, repetitive nonsense. The vegetarian issue has been beaten to death (even more than delicious, slaughtered cows). If we "heartless carnivores" don't like the cafeteria food, we don't eat it. Instead, we mumble worthless complaints to ourselves (emphasis on ourselves). According to a previous article, raging against the Purdue food service machine may give vegetarians more options. Mission accomplished. Drop it. Enough about the vocal "garden pillager" crowd. Other subjects (abortion, parking, Oliver North, or Oliver North's abortion in the parking lot which tied up a valuable "C" space during the crucial 4:30-5:30 timeslot) are as annoying (and frequent) as TV spots advertising the upcoming Mandy Moore movie. These subjects have spawned arguments that are degenerating into "I'm right, you're stupid" fests. Let's return to the days when the opinions section carried news of squirrel attacks and people blaming this University for everything, weather included. That's all we ask. Do you like veggies or have an opinion on Oliver North? Great. Can't find a parking spot? Wave as you drive by. New ideas, people. New ideas. Think outside the box. We'll get the ball rolling. "Kung Pow Enter the Fist" is the greatest movie since "Bubble Boy". Thoughts? Phone numbers? Much love to all, Robert Gorgol Christopher Mong |
