Parking tickets, meters, police all serve purpose of upholding laws, rulesThis letter is in response to David Mazza Jr.'s letter Wednesday regarding parking tickets. Mr. Mazza, if there were no rules in the land of parking, then no one would ever find a space and there would be chaos in Purdue. Granted, sometimes the police are a little overbearing when it comes to ticketing, but you have to realize that is their job. If you are not supposed to be parked somewhere, (get a clue!) don't park there; and if you are going to complain about meter parking, park somewhere else. The letter you wrote basically bashed the Purdue Police Department and what they stand for, which I find terribly rude and inconsiderate. Their job is to uphold the law and who cares if a meter runs out four minutes before it is supposed to, get over it and your self. You are no better than anyone else at Purdue and almost everyone gets a ticket. You can fight it all you desire, but you would have not gotten it if you were not in the wrong. As for having the time to calculate the profit off meter parking at Purdue, I think you can move your vehicle on time. The only problem I have with the ticketing issue is that of towing cars in the Stadium lot after 5:30 p.m. on game days, but that too was in the contract when purchasing a C permit. Another problem you used to smokescreen the ticketing issue was the matter of the police recklessly speeding past the RSC. In my three years at Purdue, I have never witnessed such a thing, but if they were about to hit you while speeding, your letter gives them another reason to do so Erin Grubb |
