Pairs of shoes hanging on phone lines prompt questions about originDoes anybody know the story behind the two or more pairs of shoes dangling from the telephone lines at Third and Russell streets? Ever since my Day on Campus almost two years ago, these shoes have been a part of the scenery every day on the way to classes. You would think the fine city of West Lafayette or Purdue University would have removed the shoes by now, as they surely have no purpose hanging from telephone lines other than to make people like me ask this question time and time again.
