Officer pleads guilty, takes
time off work
From Staff Reports
Purdue Police officer Fred Davis, 49, pled guilty
in a Warren County Circuit Court to operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol
level content of 0.08 percent or more.
He was sentenced to a year of probation and ordered
to attend substance abuse classes and to perform 50 hours of community
service. Davis is currently on a personal leave from the Purdue Police
force. Joe Bennett, the vice president for University Relations, said
Davis' decision to take time off work was personal and not University
regulated.
"He's still on the force and the probation he's
dealing with is his obligation to the criminal court," Bennett said.
Bennett said Davis may be back by the end of this
week.
According to court documents, Davis had a 0.17
percent blood-alcohol level when he was involved in an accident on Nov.
17 on Indiana State Road 26.
Davis has been serving in the Purdue Police Department
for more than 25 years.
