Misrepresentation of interior design club jades viewsI am writing in response to the article written about the "Interior Design Club," one organization covered was not correct! The actual name of the organization is A.S.I.D. (American Society for Interior Designers). I am a student member of this professional organization, and also the student representative for the state of Indiana. A.S.I.D. is the largest of all the national interior design professional associations, with more than 30,000 members. It was formed in 1975 by a merger of two other organizations that were formed around 44 years previously. This organization is what helps define professional designers from your every-day common decorators, who pride themselves on their ability to hang curtains and throw matching pillows on a couch. People who join A.S.I.D. meet recognition in the entire industry, a sense of pride in their profession, a network in the field and a chance at continuing their education. To humiliate such a prestigious and esteemed organization is not only an insult to myself and the other student members at Purdue, but to the other 30,000 members of this national professional association.
