Better Than Ezra readies for show

By Matt Lindner

Purdue Student Government is giving the student body a belated Christmas present at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Slayter Hill.

Better Than Ezra will be coming to play a free concert on the hill. The show features Forever Texas as the opening act and is open to anyone who wants to attend.

PSG vice president Matt Newton hopes students will come to the event.

"We're very hopeful that a lot of students will try to take advantage to see a big-name band for free," Newton said. "PSG is proud to provide this concert for the students because we are looking out for their best interests."

The concert has generated a lot of interest among the student body. Chris Charlesworth, the director of concerts for PSG, said there has been a very positive vibe among students.

"The PSG office has been abuzz with people stopping by and asking about it," he said. "Many on campus are very excited about this show, our phones have been ringing off the hook with people asking about the show."

Charlesworth also said the band is looking forward to coming to Purdue.

"The band has said to me that they are especially excited about playing a free outdoor show on a college campus so their excitement will most likely be channeled through their performance," he said.

While the concert is designed for students to have fun, they should do so within the limits of the law.

Purdue police Capt. Ronald Fosnaugh said the security at the event would be visible but not overbearing.

"Basically there's a perimeter set and the people that sponsor it will help us police the people there, what we're looking for is simply for people to go up there in voluntary compliance to the law," Fosnaugh said. "We attempt to put the appropriate amount of law enforcement and security in place so that people will be able to enjoy themselves in a safe environment."
