Agronomy Club sponsors
maze for Spring Fest

The Agronomy Club hopes to educate participants
about grain and hay through a walk-through maze during this year's Spring
Fest.
The club's maze will be in front of Lilly Hall
of Life Sciences.
Sherry Fulk-Bringman, the club's advisor, said,
"This maze is a fun way of learning as you go through the maze."
Fulk-Bringman said the maze would consist of a
large metal frame that will be about 20 feet by 20 feet. Along the walls
will be posters with information about certain plants and pictures of
plants. As people go through the maze, they will be asked questions
and will need to figure out the answers. The questions will help crowds
gain a better understanding of agronomy and horticulture while guiding
them trough the maze.
Fulk-Bringman said, "Questions like, 'What is the
difference between hay and straw?' will be asked on the placards."
This is the third year for the maze and it will
feature a variety of activities for participants. The goal of this year's
full-feature exhibition is to teach attendees about various grains.
The maze is expected to be an excellent opportunity
for both children and adults who are unfamiliar with these types of
plants to learn more about them while having a good time.
Kristi Kahlenbeck, a senior in the School of Agriculture
and a member of the club, said, "It will be fun. We will have equipment
so people can do soil samples and grains so they can examine the differences."
Some of the questions will help participants learn
the difference between hay and straw bales, and some will help them
find their way out of the maze's dead ends to the end.
Kahlenbeck said, "If you get lost in the maze and
hit a dead end, you will learn something that helps you get out."
