Delta Phi Lambda was placed on probation today following violations of the University's hazing policies.

New members of the sorority, 217 Sheetz St., were subjected to verbal, psychological and physical abuse in November, according to the Office of the Dean of Students. New members were asked to perform physical activities, such as calisthenics, when members incorrectly answered questions about the sorority or their personal lives, said Pablo Malavenda, associate dean of students.

The probation last through next fall's new member education period. At that point, the Office of the Dean of Students will conduct a review of the sorority.

Delta Phi Lambda has to adhere to the following list of stipulations:

No. 1 – A new member education program review or revision conducted by the Office of the Dean of Students and the Purdue colony of Delta Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. The review must include the structure of mandatory potential new member events and educational sessions.

No. 2 – The sorority to adhere to the sanctions put forth by its national office.

No. 3 – All members to attend any hazing or new membership program sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students.
