After two administrators announced that they were leaving Purdue, President Daniels sent a letter to the community.
Earlier Friday afternoon Provost Tim Sands was announced to be the next president at Virginia Tech and Al Diaz, Purdue's executive vice president for business and finance, has left for Marymount University.
"It is with sadness but also a deep sense of pride that I let you know this afternoon about the upcoming departures of two of Purdue's outstanding senior officers," said Daniels in his letter.
Daniels said in his letter that Diaz planned to retire in 2015 and a successor for his position had already been discussed and the recruitment has already begun.
Daniels also said that he was "thrilled" for Sands and his appointment as Virginia Tech's president.
"We are counting on Purdue's strong and growing reputation, to which these two men have contributed so much, to help us find the next great leaders in these critical positions," Daniels concluded in his letter.
