A multiple Organ Keyboardist of the Year Award winner will be performing tonight in downtown Lafayette.

The ensemble Dr. Lonnie Smith Trio will be playing at 8 p.m. at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. Preceding the show at 6:45 p.m. will be a discussion on the art of the jazz organ trio. The talk will include organist Jamie Newman and will be hosted by Don Seybold of WBAA Radio.

Smith has recoded 22 albums, with his most recent one titled “The Healer,” and has been featured on many more. He is most famous for his expertise of the Hammond B-3 organ.
