University to hold public hearing to discuss tuition rates

Purdue University administrators announced Thursday they will hold a public hearing July 13 to discuss proposed tuition rates for the 2009-10 year.

According to the current proposal, resident students will see a $388 increase and nonresident students will see a $1,394 increase; this is equivalent to a 5 and 6 percent increase respectively. Tuition and fees for the 2009-10 school year would be $8,138 for resident students and $24,618 for nonresident students and $25,118 for nonresident first-time students.

Purdue President France Córdova said that the state’s decision did not come as a surprise.
