Purdue Police and Purdue Fire responded to an emergency landing at the Purdue University Airport on Sunday afternoon.

According to Purdue Police Dispatcher Chris Black, a plane made an emergency landing at Purdue Airport just after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Purdue Fire Capt. Dan Plantenga said a pilot thought he was having trouble with one of the engines on the aircraft he was flying. Plantenga said the Purdue Fire Department was called to be on stand-by when the plane landed, but he said “it was actually, pretty much, a non-event.

“He thought he had lost or was losing power in an engine, but it was still running when he landed,” Plantenga said. “He thought he possibly had an emergency. ... He landed safely; not really a big deal.”

Black said the type of plane and specific details about the landing could not be released yet, but he said the plane landed safely.

“It’s on the ground – there was no incident whatsoever,” he said. “Landed fine without any incident.”
