Printer-friendly version Fans to share in weekend basketball reunion, roastBy Jason TomcsiSports Editor This weekend fans will get to participate in the Purdue Men's Basketball Family Reunion and Gene Keady Roast today and Saturday. Activities for the family reunion begin at 12:30 p.m. on today with a Florida-style golf scramble at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. Former players and coaches who will be in attendance range in age from Clyde Lyle, who played for Hall of Fame coach Ward Lambert in 1929, to relatively recent standouts such as Brian Cardinal, now a forward with the Detroit Pistons and Brad Miller, a center for the Indiana Pacers. Other former players scheduled to appear include current assistant coach Cuonzo Martin (Class of 1995), Eugene Parker ('78), Troy Lewis ('88), Everette Stephens ('88), Todd Mitchell ('88), Chuck Bavis ('69) and Carl McNulty ('52). Former assistant coaches Bruce Weber, now the head coach at Southern Illinois, and Steve Lavin, now the head coach at UCLA, will also attend. The second event is the Keady Roast on Saturday at Cumberland Place Exhibition Center, 1780 Cumberland Ave. in West Lafayette. The evening begins with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and roast speeches by former players. Brian Walker and Dan Washington are spearheading the event for the "Fastbreakers," a group of Purdue basketball supporters. Walker is a local lawyer and former Purdue basketball player. Washington is a local businessman and owner of Dog N' Suds. All proceeds benefit the Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club of Lafayette. The club operates year-round, serving about 1,200 youth ages six to 18 each year at two sites in the city. Daily attendance during the summer tops 200.
