Printer-friendly version Parkway businesses want specialty neighborsFrom Staff ReportsAccording to a business survey’s results, business owners on or near Sagamore Parkway prefer the establishment of additional clothing, department or specialty stores along the Parkway versus the establishment of fast food or grocery stores. STATCOM, a Purdue department of statistics community outreach program, presented this finding along with others pertaining to traffic, pedestrians, development and finance on Wednesday during the Sagamore Parkway Taskforce Committee meeting. Alex Lipka, graduate student, reviewed the survey’s goals and findings for committee members and attendees. "The goal was to access the opinion of business owners on issues pertaining to Sagamore Parkway," said Lipka. The surveys were distributed on Oct. 9 to 247 business and 75 were completed and returned through Oct. 27, which is a 31 percent response rate. Lipka said this is a "good" response rate. In October the group conducted and presented a similar survey geared toward residents. Committee member Patti O’Callaghan found similarities between the responses of the two surveys to be unexpected. Both residents and businesses thought citywide resources should be used for development, she said. "That surprises me," said O’Callaghan. Results of the resident and business surveys can be found online at www.city.west-lafayette.in.us/revitalizesagamoreparkway/index.htm. Printer-friendly version |
