With 23 turnovers against Duke and only one practice before its next game, the Purdue women’s basketball team prepares for Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

After a 63-93 loss to Duke, the Boilers look to rebound from the tough loss for their third game of the season.

"We didn’t come to play," senior forward Shereka Wright said. "We just weren’t prepared to come in and play.

"It was a learning experience. Yes, it was negative we lost. We are disappointed and need to regroup and be ready to play a really good team."

Purdue will face Milwaukee tonight at 7 in Mackey Arena.

Milwaukee is coming off its opening weekend, which left the Panthers 1-1 after a 94-62 loss to DePaul and a 78-73 win against Ball State.

Milwaukee also struggled with turnovers, giving up 37 to DePaul before playing a cleaner game in the win over Ball State.

In order to face the strong Milwaukee Panthers, Purdue looks to its seniors for leadership.

"The seniors need to step up," Wright said. "I’ve been in these situations before and I am going to personally take the initiative to step up."

Wright, who finished with 20 points against Duke, is determined to show what her team is capable of.

"You will see a different Purdue team than what you saw against Duke," said Wright. "That wasn’t us that day. We embarrassed ourselves on national television."

With both teams at 1-1, the matchup will be tight with the Boilers looking to prove themselves again and recover from their loss over the weekend.

"I’m taking the blame for that," Wright said. "I’m going to make sure we’re not going to let that happen to us again."

The Boilers will have to be ready for Milwaukee’s senior center Maria Viall.

Viall is ranked in the top six in Wisconsin-Milwaukee school history in scoring, blocks, rebounding and field goal percentage.

However, the strong Boiler program is diligently preparing for tonight’s game.

"We are starting in practice," Wright said. "We are preparing and working hard in practice to face Milwaukee."
