Printer-friendly version Dean places co-op house on probationFrom Staff ReportsThe Marwood Cooperative House for men was placed on probation Thursday after violating the University’s alcohol regulations. The probation is a result of a party the co-op held during Grand Prix week. The excise police broke up the party when they discovered alcohol was being served to and consumed by minors. Tamara Rice, assistant dean of students, said the University began an investigation after learning of the incident. Marwood will be on probation until April 30, 2005. The probation includes two stipulations. The members of the co-op must attend alcohol education classes in the fall and they are required to sign a statement saying they have read and understand the Purdue Co-op Council’s social policy, said Rice. "We try to work as a team with the students," said Rice. "It is not us versus them." Rice said this is a learning experience that might help students be more responsible. Members of the Marwood Cooperative House could not be reached for comment. Printer-friendly version |
